Certificate of Commendation - Kris Crawford, Cheyenne, Dakota & Tahoe
On September 27, 2010, Knock Out Dog Fighting founder Kris Crawford and her pit bulls Cheyenne, Dakota & Tahoe received a Certificate of Commendation from Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Jacqueline Duong, the San Jose City Council and the San Jose Mayor's Office for their work in the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall and Detention Centers.
Superior Court Judge Jacqueline Duong said she decided it was time to start recognizing those who volunteer a great deal of their time, often paying for supplies out of their own pockets, to help change an incarcerated child's life for the better.
Dog fighting is a form of animal abuse and there is a direct link between those who abuse animals and those who go on to commit violent crimes against people. If we can stop a child from abusing an animal, we not only save the animals, we help save our children and our communities.
"My receipt of this commendation, and the accomplishments the Knock Out Dog Fighting program has made, would not have been possible without the many dedicated individuals who have taken time out of their lives to join me in fighting for this cause," said Crawford.
The certificate mentions one presentation in particular that was done by Kris, Tahoe and Knock Out Dog Fighting member Andre Ward (2004 Olympic Gold Medalist and Super Middleweight Boxing World Champion) http://www.knockoutdogfighting.org/news/knock-out-dog-fighting-andre-juvhall.html that inspired several incarcerated youth to get involved in the Knock Out Dog Fighting program, get out of gangs, clean up their lives and who are now volunteering with the Knock Out Dog Fighting program.
