Knock Out Dog Fighting Featured on Animal Planet's "Pit Boss" on September 18, 2010

The Knock Out Dog Fighting crew was in Hollywood this past summer to film an episode for Animal Planet's hit television show "Pit Boss". We spent three days filming at various places in Los Angeles. It resulted in the making of a pretty exciting episode for Animal Planet and a powerful public service announcement (PSA)!

The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization program Knock Out Dog Fighting (KODF), is a one-of-a kind award-winning youth intervention program that has become a national leader in stopping cruelty and abuse to both humans and animals.

Comprised of professional boxers, dancers, fitness experts, dog trainers, martial artists and MMA fighters, the KODF organization partners with schools, community centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, juvenile detention facilities, law enforcement and gang prevention task forces to address the underlying reasons kids are fighting dogs and abusing animals - money, false sense of toughness, status, power and control.

Knock Out Dog Fighting team members are positive role models that are working in their communities teaching children and young adults that it is not a sign of strength, power or greatness to abuse and fight animals.

The Knock Out Dog Fighting program focuses on working with the youth in our communities to stop abusing and fighting animals because they are at an imprresionable stage of their lives. Dog fighting is a form of animal abuse and there is a direct link between those who abuse animals and those who go on to commit violent crimes against people. If we can stop a child from abusing an animal, we not only save the animals, we help save our children and our communities.

At first Knock Out Dog Fighting was hesitant to get involved in the Pit Boss program due to the fact we don't agree with a lot of Shorty Rossi's methods. For example, dog fighting is a criminal activity so do NOT raid or sneak up on a dog fighting operation on your own. Get law enforcement involved to apprehend the individuals and because law enforcement has the authority to seize animals on the spot and immediately end their suffering.

The Knock Out Dog Fighting crew consists of several members of Fight Legion and they took time out of their schedules to join Knock Out Dog Fighting team members Frank Shamrock and Brett Rogers to film the episode and the PSA. "Our mixed martial artists are excited to step into the fight against animal cruelty," said Sky Andren, owner of Fight Legion Sports Management. "The Knock Out Dog Fighting program helps us communicate with our youth and show them through example the beauty of responsible pet ownership and love for pit bulls as companions not status symbols. My fighters make me so proud, not just because of what they can do on TV, but that they step up to volunteer to make a difference in our community and help be a positive role model for our future."
